"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
Need Help?
It is ok to be in a season that feels too heavy or difficult to navigate on your own. We offer various levels of care at Citylight, and take seriously the command to bear one another's burdens. Please consider where you are in the pathway below, and what your next step might be. If you are not sure what your next step is, we would love to help you figure that out. Feel free to reach out to a member of the Care staff below.
Care at Citylight happens in the following spaces:
City Groups are the spaces where people scatter throughout the week to live in authentic and consistent community. As people become increasingly isolated and lonely with the growth and reliance on technology, we believe it is more important than ever to be in biblical community. City Groups are the front lines for care. City Groups are places where people can be known on a deeper level and supported through various seasons of life.
Care Groups are temporary groups and classes that provide space to process particular struggles and life transitions with others in similar seasons. Some of these include help for those grieving the death of a loved one, healing from trauma and abuse, mental wellness support, women and men transitioning out of incarceration, and adoption/foster care support.
Pastoral care is short term discipleship by a member of the care team who is trained in basic counseling skills and helps provide spiritual direction to work through common struggles (e.g., feelings of anxiety, depressed mood, relationship issues, addictions, and grief and loss). The care provider may or may not have graduate level training/certifications. There is no cost to receive pastoral care at Citylight, but you must be a member/regular attender.
Professional counseling is provided by a licensed therapist who has graduate-level training and certification. Professional counselors can provide short-term or long-term services to adults, teens, and children (individuals, couples, or families) who struggle with issues that limit daily functioning, including but not limited to the following areas:
- Trauma
- Clinical-level anxiety or depression
- Personality disorders
- Mood disorders
- Eating disorders
- Psychosis
- Neurodevelopmental disorders
There is a fee for professional counseling, which may or may not be covered by insurance and/or self-pay.
Citylight has partnered with CityCare Counseling and has licensed therapists on-site at both West and Midtown locations.
Citylight’s desire is to see new marriages formed that are rooted in a rich understanding and growing appreciation of God's covenant love for us. Through our Premarital Weekends, marriage mentorship process, and the hosting and officiating weddings, the Care Ministry considers it a great privilege to walk alongside engaged couples as they move towards and prepare for marriage and life with Jesus at the center.
"Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." - Galatians 6:2
We all face difficult seasons, and Scripture is clear about the call to “bear one another’s burdens." Here at Citylight Church, we seek to care for one another primarily through two unique ways:
1) City Groups
We were created for community and connection. City Groups are the primary places we scatter throughout the week to live with and serve one another and our community, and an ideal place to be known and a frontline for care. If you are not , we encourage you to find a City Group.
2) Care Ministry
We all might need an extra layer of care and guidance through a difficult season. We have staff and trained care ministers (men and women) who are equipped to listen, engage from a biblical worldview, and walk with you toward the Redeemer, Jesus Christ, where hope and healing are found.
Request Care
Receive short-term care from a Care Minister who will help you understand your story, suffering, or circumstance in light of your relationship with God in order to live more fully in that understanding.
