Citylight Marriage Workshop
6.22 | 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM | West
We invite all couples to consider joining us for the 2024 Marriage Workshop! We are calling this a workshop because we want you to be prepared to come to work on your marriage! There will be sessions that are rooted in counseling skills/principles and corresponding exercises, as well as sessions that are rooted in more of a biblical teaching framework. Most importantly, the gospel of grace and Lordship of Jesus Christ will be the prominent theme during our time together, as we believe a marriage centered on Christ and saturated with grace is the most vital thing for us to flourish in these relationships. Light breakfast will be served. Lunch will be on your own. No childcare provided. Cost $20.
Premarital
Citylight’s desire is to see new marriages formed that are rooted in a rich understanding and growing appreciation of God's covenant love for us. Through our Premarital Weekends, marriage mentorship process, and the hosting and officiating weddings, the Care Ministry considers it a great privilege to walk alongside engaged couples as they move towards and prepare for marriage and life with Jesus at the center.
Premarital Weekend
The Premarital Weekend is a Friday evening and Saturday morning conference that is offered each Fall and Spring at one of the gathering locations. Any engaged or newly married couples are welcome to sign-up and attend the weekend regardless of whether or not they attend Citylight. The weekend content does build on itself so attendance for the whole conference by the engaged couple is essential to get the most out of the weekend.
Premarital Class
This class is designed to help engaged couples prepare for marriage well by pointing them to a Christ-centered understanding for marriage and is mandatory if you are getting married at Citylight or by a Citylight staff member. Free to attend but you must register and plan to attend the entire 8 weeks if possible.
Next Class TBD
Marriage Mentoring
We believe one of the best ways to prepare for marriage is to have another couple with more experience walk alongside you. In your relationship with your marriage mentors, you will share meals, stories, and become equipped for a life together as you both journey with Jesus. On average you can expect to spend 6-8 meetings together, have assigned homework and reading, and spend upwards of $50 total on materials.
SYMBIS Mentoring
SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before it Starts) is an assessment tool used in our Care Ministry to give you a lens into your specific relationship. It will help you understand you and your partner's unique personalities, expectations, and ultimately one another's story so that you can be better equipped to navigate marriage from a posture of wisdom, humility, honor, and grace. The assessment takes around 30-40 minutes, and costs $35 per couple. We have trained facilitators to then meet with you over several sessions to go through the content, guide you through helpful conversations, and encourage you in your relationship. We highly recommend you go through this process before you get married, but it is also beneficial even after marriage.

Wedding and Officiate FAQ’S
If Citylight only hosts weddings and Citylight pastors and staff only officiate weddings for covenant members and regular attenders, what is a member and what is a regular attender?
A member is someone who has gone through Citylight’s formal membership process and who has been approved as a member of the church through a pastoral meeting. A regular attender is someone who gathers with Citylight Church on Sunday mornings and who scatters with Citylight Church throughout the week in a City Group.
If I am not a member or regular attender of Citylight Church, will you still consider hosting my wedding?
We will not consider or change our wedding policy to accommodate those who are not members or regular attenders. Citylight Church is a church family and not a wedding venue, so we would recommend you reach out to the local church you are a part of or to a facility that is a wedding venue.
If I am not a member or regular attender of Citylight Church, would a Citylight Pastor or staff member be willing to officiate my wedding?
Our pastor’s and staff will not change our officiate policy or make exceptions to the policy. We would recommend reaching out to your local church pastor, a pastor you have a personal relationship with, or a county judge to make arrangements to officiate your wedding.
Who do I contact if I have questions about Citylight’s Wedding Policy or Citylight’s Officiate Policy?
You may contact Cathy Vaughn at our Midtown location. The phone number is (402)932-8850 or you can reach her by email at cathy@citylightomaha.org.
Premarital Weekend
Marriages are a valuable reflection of the gospel and should be built upon the person and work of Jesus Christ. The Pre-Marital Weekend is designed to help engaged couples prepare for marriage well by pointing couples to a Christ-centered understanding for marriage. A foundation for marriage that is centered on Jesus and rooted in Scripture will help couples understand what God desires for them and from them in their marriage relationship.
The Premarital Weekend is a Friday evening and Saturday morning conference that is offered twice a year (Fall and Spring) at one of the gathering locations. Anyone is welcome to sign-up and attend the class regardless of whether you attend Citylight. The weekend content does build on itself so attendance for the whole conference by the engaged couple is important and essential to get the most out of the weekend.
You can visit our upcoming page for the dates of the next weekend or email Ben Hamilton, if you have any questions.
The next Premarital Weekend will be
8.21, 6:30 - 9:30 PM | 8.22, 9 AM - Noon | West
