Citylight Church is made up of people who live on mission to multiply disciples throughout our city. We gather on Sunday mornings for worship as the body of Christ and we scatter throughout the week to bring His light wherever He has planted us. We are not a place with programs, we are a people on mission. We love to connect people to live out their callings and present opportunities for them to engage their time, talents, and treasure in these areas.

John Fletcher, serving team member at the West location, shared recently why he serves the Church and the fruit God has given him through serving.

"I saw that the Church is not just a place you come on Sundays and you take in a message and you leave. In Romans it says that everyone serves and I just saw that we are a Body and there's different areas to serve the Body. One of the guys in my City Group said to look at the security team and I jumped in. It was a way to serve the Church and in an area I had not seen before.

For me, it's protecting the flock and being someone to keep an eye out on things and create an environment for people to come and worship freely. The Church is a Body and we are meant to do life together. We are not meant to just come in on a Sunday, take a message and then leave. So, if this is the way I am called to serve the Church, then I am going to do that.

When you serve you start to get to know people. Sometimes through serving what can happen is you meet people with similar interests. You get to know them and connect with them. You form bonds with people and start walking through life with them. Serving gives you also an opportunity to talk to people you would not normally talk to. Typically when you are not serving, it's so easy to walk in on a Sunday in a large church and not talk to anyone. Serving kind of forces you to talk and you begin to learn about their week and who they are. You start doing life together.

Walking with others in life and on a serving team has made church feel like a family for me and my wife rather a group of people who gather on Sundays. One example is our serving team leads, the Cogdills, were away and my wife and I got to dog sit for them. Another example is I can text someone on our team the night before asking if they can cover for me and they will. Our security team is there for one another. Being on the team I have seen people jump in and share each another's burdens and celebrate each other's wins.

You don't have to have a talent to serve, you just have to be willing to say yes. There's a million and a half ways to serve the Church. There's a way to serve ... You just have to be willing. There's always something you can do to serve the Body. That's how God has designed the Church to be ... To be serving one another."

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Romans 12:10-13
