Thousands of people have been ripped from their homes due to the crisis in Afghanistan. Many families have been displaced and are currently being resettled in cities across America. Omaha, being one of those cities, is in the process of resettling refugees over the next few months. This is a huge opportunity for us to welcome the stranger in our land and love them as our new neighbors. The overwhelming task of helping these families get settled here is going to require many churches and individuals working together and our church has committed to be part of this movement. We want to step into radically loving our neighbors because Jesus radically loved us. Thank you for stepping in and using your gifts, talents, and resources to practice hospitality, kindness, and generosity!
Dear friends, thank you for your generosity and heart to serve our new Afghan neighbors. At this time, you have helped furnish 12 homes for families arriving in Omaha. We are so grateful for your hard work and generosity. The following are opportunities to continue to support our new neighbors' needs:
DONATE TO MERCY MINISTRIES
Funds donated to the Mercy Ministry will be used by Citylight Church to support a local resettlement agency and purchase hard to find items such as mattresses and couches or any other financial support needed.
DONATE ITEMS
Families arrive in Omaha with very few possessions. It is incredibly helpful for items to be donated as they deplete the allotment of funds assigned to each family. If you're able to donate items on the needs list contact Melanie Gahan.
APARTMENT MOVE-IN & SETUP
Once a family is assigned an apartment, a team can begin moving in furniture and setting up the home. We need people able to move furniture from a storage location to the new home and can unpack and make the apartment feel like home.

Join us to learn about the refugee resettlement process, the challenges people have gone through to this point, and what they have to look forward to. We hope that as a church family we will come to a deeper compassion for displaced peoples and be equipped to serve them well.
