"Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ" - Acts 2:38

In our Citylight family, baptism is a command, a sign and it's a cause for celebration. Baptism is not optional to Jesus, it’s a command for every Christian. Baptism is a sign that puts the gospel on display for all to see. Getting baptized means that not only have you been united with Christ but you’ve been united with the church. It means that the church family has a new member! In our church family we have 10 new members just this past week who were baptized at our Midtown location.

Church ... Let us celebrate together and give God the glory for what he does and continues to do! He is saving and redeeming people. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Here are just a few stories from this past Sunday.

Matthew

"I have been a Christian my whole life. I grew up in a Christian household and was baptized as a child. Two years ago, my wife came to Jesus and got baptized. She has encouraged me since then to get baptized. My response was I don't need to be baptized because I did when I was a child. She said I should go to the baptism class and so I did. I went to the class and as I was walking out after the class, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I knew I needed to be baptized. I thought she needed it, but it was me that needed to be baptized. I needed to be obedient to what Jesus said. I shouldn't be scared to show my faith.

The older I get, I now know that I don't know anything except him and that I need him. In all things in life that you think or was told that will fulfill you, it will not. It always comes with wanting more and getting to the next stop. Jesus is the only true fulfillment and it is final with him."

"Jesus has helped me overcome so many obstacles in my life. There was a time where I didn't want be on this earth anymore. That's when Jesus showed me that He has given a purpose to live for him. He's helped me through heartbreak and has showed me that I have so much more to live for.

He saved my life and got me out of a hole I put myself in months ago. I'm so excited to get baptized and proclaim Him as my savior."

Susan

"I became a Christian nine years ago and have wanted to get baptized since then. But things happened in my life that made me feel like I was never quite ready. But now, I am ready! My husband has been a huge inspiration for me and helped me to know now is the time. Jesus has saved me from distress, sin, anxiety, pain, and unsuccessful marriages and relationships. He has given me in return peace. I have somebody now that I know loves me all of the time. I used to struggle with that before and with my identity. Now I know there is a purpose and my purpose is to serve Jesus and others.

I have a lot of conversations with people I love, including my children, about Jesus. How he has impacted my life and how to know him. I explain that Jesus is real. He performed miracles and anytime and anywhere and including with me. He is somebody you can go to during good and bad times. Jesus is my rock. I am celebrating that today through baptism and with my husband and my friend."
