At Citylight, our mission is to multiply disciples and churches. We do that with two primary rhythms of gathering on Sundays and scattering throughout the community in City Groups during the week. We have experienced tremendous growth within our Sunday morning kids ministry. Additionally, we desire to provide adult discipleship and Biblical education which can best be done in a classroom setting during Sunday gatherings. Our build-out plans will help provide our needed additional discipleship space for both our kids and adults during the Sunday gathering.

At the West location, the new build-out is in the unfinished space above the current offices and kids' classrooms. At the Midtown location, we will buildout offices in the 203 suite (east section of the building), move kids' classrooms downstairs in the existing office space, and consolidate existing kids' classrooms upstairs to make larger adult classrooms on the main floor.

 

Discipleship Spaces

MIDTOWN OFFICES
These are our current midtown staff offices located in the basement of the Midtown location building. It is adjacent to our existing kids' classrooms. We hope to turn this space into new kids' classrooms so that our kids' space is contained in one location for increased security. Many of the sliding doors and glass windows will be repurposed and relocated to the new office space.

MIDTOWN KIDS' CLASSROOMS
These are the classrooms we currently use for nursery and toddlers. We are planning on moving these kids' spaces to our current office space and transforming this area into adult discipleship spaces for Sunday classes. We’re excited to start offering some core classes on Sunday mornings to help give our church family some basic handles in Biblical literacy, Christian theology, and spiritual formation.

MIDTOWN SUITE 203
This is Suite 203, located on the east end of the building. This suite is not directly connected to our main gathering space at the Midtown location, but is instead accessible through the same exterior doors as the “East Room”. Citylight was able to purchase this space in the summer of 2020. The plan is to build out an open office concept that will allow the move of our Midtown offices from the current location in the basement. This will free up basement space and allow us to have contiguous kids’ classroom space.

WEST LOCATION SECOND FLOOR
The West build-out space will be in the unfinished second floor of the West location building. When the West space was built-out in 2017, the space above the bathrooms, office, and kids classrooms was configured to one day support a second floor build-out. This build-out will include a large classroom for adult meetings, office space, and five additional kids classrooms. The plan is to move the current offices to the upstairs, freeing the downstairs office to become another adult classroom for Sunday gatherings.

Project Summary

Work is planned throughout 2021 to buildout existing space for both the West and Midtown locations. Our goal is to finish these build-outs by the fall to have space ready for the new school year for kids and start Sunday morning adult discipleship classes. Our desire is to do this work without any additional debt and be ready to use the space in the fall.
