Welcome the Nations
Jesus, in His divine wisdom, is accomplishing His purposes even in the midst of war, disaster, and oppressive governments. As a result of immigration and a global refugee crisis, the nations are no longer an ocean away, but just a threshold. Yet so often these people groups remain isolated in pockets throughout our city. At Citylight, we seek to welcome the nations by building authentic relationships that embody and proclaim the hope and love of Jesus. We have three levels of engagement:
Donate Household Goods
As refugees resettle in Omaha, new homes need to be set up. Citylight is collecting household items to be ready as Refugee Empowerment Center presents opportunities. Items can be dropped off at either the Midtown or West location. Review the list below which will update as new needs arise.
Family Advocate
Small teams will be paired with refugee families to regularly engage relationally in the home. The goal is building authentic relationships that embody and proclaim the hope and love of Jesus with our neighbors. Family Advocate teams will all receive foundational training before being paired with families.
Refugee Service Team
The adjustment process from crisis and/or refugee camp to America is daunting and full of needs. By signing up to be included on the Service Team, you are saying, “Please, contact me when specific needs arise. I want to help if I can.”
